Beautiful Crazy Tour Launch: Basildon Towngate Theatre Night One
How This One Landed on Our Radar
About a week ago we spotted Yannick Van Riet posting about his upcoming tour with Beautiful Crazy, a huge Luke Combs show, and the first date was ridiculously close to the office at Basildon Towngate Theatre. We reached out straight away.
After liaising with Yannick and the wider team, and then working directly with the Towngate Theatre crew, we got the green light to come in as the only content creators covering the production. The kind of access that lets you capture the show properly, not just snippets.
First Impressions Backstage
We arrived early to meet the cast and band, get a feel for the flow of the night, and build out our camera setup. There’s a different energy on a tour opener. Excitement, pressure, nerves, and a lot of moving parts.
We went in armed with the Canon C400 and Canon EOS R, knowing we wanted coverage that felt big, cinematic, and social-ready at the same time.
The Shot We Had to Get
Before the first note was even played, we had a clear plan. Our first hero moment had to be Noel walking out on stage. That entrance sets the tone, and it’s the kind of image that becomes the face of a show online.
We locked in position, waited for the moment, and captured a shot we already know is going to live all over socials in the coming days. A proper “tour starts now” moment.
Once the show was rolling, we moved around the venue to build a full story of the night. Wide angles to show scale. Tight shots for emotion. Band detail. The moments between moments that make live performance feel real.
And the band? Unreal.
For a first night you’d expect a few things to need tightening up, a missed cue, a timing slip, something small. Not here. These are professionals in every sense. They smashed every song, and the confidence on stage made it feel like they’d been touring this set for years.
“A Seated Theatre… Up on Their Feet”
One of the best signs of a great show is when a “seated crowd” stops behaving like a seated crowd. By the end, people were up dancing, fully bought in, fully in it. That’s when you know the performance has landed.
Nine Months of Back-to-Back Shows
This is just the beginning. The Beautiful Crazy team are now heading into nine months of back-to-back shows, and if one comes anywhere near you, it’s a must-see night out.
