Sam Ryder Live in Chelmsford: One Shot, Maximum Impact
Today we had the amazing opportunity to film Sam Ryder performing live in Chelmsford! Before he headed to Maldon and Colchester to promote his Wembley show this November, we were there to capture a single, uninterrupted angle of his performance, without disrupting the energy of the show or the audience.
Filming Setup
To get the best possible shot from a distance, we used our Canon C400 cinema camera, paired with the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens. This setup allowed us to frame Sam perfectly from afar, while keeping him crisp and in focus. To ensure the audio was top-notch, we captured the sound using the Rode VideoMic Pro+, giving us clear, professional-level sound even from our position at the back.
Working with Limitations
Sometimes less is more. With only one shot and one length to work with, the challenge was capturing the essence of the live performance without moving around or distracting the audience. By carefully considering composition, focus, and timing, we created a video that conveys the energy and charisma of Sam on stage, even from a single perspective.
Why Gear Matters
Using professional equipment like the Canon C400 ensures that even a single-shot video looks cinematic and engaging. The lens allowed us to get close-up, detailed coverage, while the high-quality microphone captured every nuance of Sam’s performance.
Delivering the Performance
The final video brings fans closer to Sam Ryder’s Space Man than ever, letting them experience the excitement of the live show, even if they weren’t able to attend. It’s a testament to careful planning, precise equipment choice, and knowing how to get the most out of every shot.
At Forever Callie Media, we love capturing live performances in ways that respect both the artist and the audience, creating content that’s professional, polished, and ready for promotion across social media or websites.
